There’s an old saying that goes, “The cobbler’s children go barefoot.” When it comes to being a creative director and a web/graphic designer, the irony in that sentiment rings true. Every single working artist would love nothing more than to uncork their flood of creativity for their own means, but after putting in a sixty-plus hour week behind the monitor, the last thing that we want to do is sit back down and go back to the drawing board.
In my case, my metaphorical kid is my own website, which if you’re reading this, you’ve found. It’s simple, non-fanciful, and pretty much direct and to the point. It serves a handful of purposes as a travel blog, a portfolio, an art & design showcase, and a outlet to explore two of my biggest outside passions – my leather and motorcycle studios.
I hope that reading through some of my posts, or seeing the work and words of myself and others can help to enlighten and inspire, the same way that it’s done for me again and again.
“Whether we’re a preschooler or a young teen, a graduating college senior or a retired person, we human beings all want to know that we’re acceptable, that our being alive somehow makes a difference in the lives of others.” – Fred Rogers, The World According to Mister Rogers: Important Things to Remember
